what happened to my drum sticks (tip snapped)?

5 months ago it was my birthday, i got a drum kit and my sister bought me Lars Ulrich AHEAD signiture sticks. I discovered this morning the head/tip/i dont know what its called, has snapped in half, the tips are plastic but still, these are AHEAD and ive not

well plastic tips in general will tend to deteriorate pretty quickly. 5 months is quite a long life span for a pair of sticks, depending on how much you play! the plastic tip is fitted over the tip of the wooden stick. since the tip cannot just slide on, they must attached it in 2 pieces before securing it. so thats probably why they chipped. not much you can do about it. thats just what happens to sticks. i would suggest buying a whole bunch of really cheap sticks that you can use for practicing. i got 10 pairs for 10 bucks at guitarcenter. they were mismatched, and had some very minor flaws. but hell, thats good enough for a practice stick! im just gonna tear it up anyways, who cares if there are a few small flaws.
