How to make drums have more of a "thud"?

I was wondering how i could make my drumset get more of a "thud" like sound with very low sustain and almost no overtones. any suggestions? i need more help with the toms than anything. I already have moongels, and they dont work the greatest, because i usually have to put 2 on one drumhead, and they loosen up when u hit the drum. i have a 22 inch bass, 12, and 13 Inch Tom, and an 18 inch floor tom. and i have all remo heads, cant think of what kinds they are at the moment, not at home.

Okay so here's the deal, dampening your head with moongel or whatever is for folks that don't know how to properly tune drums, no offense intended but it's just true. For the sound you're after put an Evans hydraulic on the Batter Side and a Remo PowerStroke 3 on the resonant side and then tune fairly low. I assume the person that said put a pillow in your toms meant to say in your bass drum, no one puts a freakin' pillow in a tom. Here is a good article on drum tuning.
