Is it possible to special order a Black Beauty Snare Drum shell?

I love the sound of the Black Beauty Snare Drum by Ludwig, but there are certain changes I want to make to it. I would just buy a normal Black Beauty Snare and take off the parts I want to replace and put on the ones I want, but I feel like that would be far more expensive than buying just the shell and getting the parts that I want and assembling it from scratch. Anyone know where/if I can get just the shell?

You're best bet would be to contact Ludwig direct and ask them, it might be the case that you can?

Have you checked out ebay lately, there's lots of plain shells for sale, I like the look of the Stave shells which are solid wood. Some of the sellers can provide all the bits you require to assemble you're own Custom Drum, and it's relatively cheap - and good practice for if you do decide to buy a second hand BB and modify it yourself!
