Bongos instead of drums?

when doing an acoustic song, would it be good if my drummer used bongos instead of drums? example would be 21 guns by greenday, buffalo soldier by bob marley and in bloom by nirvana

It depends on the sound you want. Back in the 70s I did a tape using bongo drums. Worked out well because that was the sound I wanted. Also worked in a tambourine and Finger Cymbals into some of the songs.

That started off as just me wanting to lay down some tracks to get a rough idea of some songs I was working on. These tapes were intended for us to work up later with the band. I just wanted a simple track to show my ideas. I did them on the acoustic with bongos (and sometimes the tambourine or finger cymbals) for the percussion. I liked the sound so well, I decided to leave them that way.
