Why are My hi-hats Pink?

I bought a pair of 14" Meinl Byzance dark Hi-hats earlier today. I tried to get them to look more like pictures I had seen by removing some dirt they may have acquired at guitar center. When I wiped the groove juice off, they were pink. these are made of quality B20 Bronze, so they shouldn't have been affected by the cleaner. Were they always pink under the dirt, or did I screw them up? Either way, is there someway I can get them back t the color they were/ will they go back to it if I give it enough time??
