10 year old son interested in drums?

He has great rhythm and is always hitting sounds out with pens, sticks or a lone Drum Stick from his brothers old child drum set.

I would like to get him a set and lessons for christmas. Any drummers or musicians with advice on what type of starter pieces or set to get? When or what type of lessons?

I do not want to spend too much. Want a quality set, but for a boy who is just started showing intrest.
Not thousands, yet. Thinking a couple hundered? Is that reasonable?

Well it depends on how much your willing to spend. A good starter kit brand is Groove Percussion, ddrum. Also Pearl and Tama are very good sets. Good for beginners and better quality. I say its better to get a good set, so it could last longer. I bought a $300 set when i first started and it didn't last to long. Then I got a Tama with everything for $3000. Also about the cymbals you can get them in sets. Sabian are good for beginners.

I never had lessons so im not sure. Just see how it goes when you get him the set.
