How come my calves ache so much when i jog?

i run everyday for 20-30mins round the block, but after 15mins we come to this hill and the back of my calves ache so bad i often give up. My running partner always has a go at me saying that a stitch is the only excuse for stopping but im in agony.

whats the explanation for this and is there anyway to make my clave stronger so they dont hurt in future?

Try starting off going the opposite direction you have been going. After you get used to the length of the run switch back. The reason for the pain is the hill uses different muscles that running on a flat surface. The streches in the article below are helpful. The only thing is though don't give up on it. Eventually your calves will strenghten and the pain will stop.
