What wall color goes with dark wood trim, stone fireplace & wood floors?

We don't want to paint the wood trim, but the white walls seem too stark and too contrasting to the trim. What colors should we consider? Also, some of the rooms have light colored carpet which is in good shape. These rooms also have the dark wood trim and right now it looks like little dark lines have been drawn around the windows and the floor. Yikes! What colors might be good in those rooms? Thanks!

I have dark wood trim in my own home, and pretty much any color will work EXCEPT brown. You run the risk of the brown wall color clashing with the tone of the wood. This happened to me. My wood is brown with red undertones, and I used a brown paint with yellow undertones. Clashed! - OMG.

I think a green like "willow tree" (# 7741) would be very pretty.
