any hand-drum genius out there? HELP!?

Hey!
So I am looking into buying a Hand Drum, just to add a little spice to my music...I also have no idea, what type of drum I should buy...I am considering a darbuka, djembe, doumbek...? Any input out there? I would like something pretty versatile in music styles...I would like to play middle eastern beats, but also add something to maybe a jack johnson cover...is it possible? how about size?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Daraboukas have a high sharp sound. Lots of volume and great popping sounds. Can be played like a djembe too if you don't do trad style. Waterproof too.

I play trad djembe. They are widely used in non-traditional contexts but are very hard to get nice sounds out of without years of playing. Plastic skins and cow skins are much easier to control (though personally I hate plastic djembes; Daraboukas are cool though)

Kambala did a great range of small cow-skinned bougarabous a while ago. They are amazing - deep resonant melodic bass like a kenkeni, tones and high harmonic slaps pn the edge if you know what you are doing. This would be my recommendation.
