What is the best begginer drum set?

I want to start a garage band, not that any of us are good, but just for fun. What is a good drum kit for under $500? I need a set or bundle that includes stands and symbols. I want to make a purchase that has everything I need.

If you have a Guitar Center near by I'd check that place out. They have some good deals most of the time. Musiciansfriend.com has some great deals also. I would go with one of the Ludwig, Pulse or Sonor kits. I would have recommended the Pearl Forum kit, but the price has gone up about 200 dollars since I bought my first kit ages ago.
