What is the best brand of electric drums?

I really want to buy a new acoustic drum set, but I'm going to be living in an apartment in two years. If I spend a lot of money on a drum set (which is what I was planning to do), it's going to have to last a long time. Way more than two years.

I guess sound proofing doesn't always work? So, my only solution is electric drums? If you have any other solutions let me know.

In any case, I know nothing about electric drums and I hate to have to buy one, but I'm all out of options. What is the best brand? I play all types of music, but it's punk and hardcore I'm worried about. If I play fast, do the drums keep up or sound weird? THANKS.

i was in the same sort of situation a year ago. i went round the shops trying out electric ones but there was always something about them i didnt like and above all they were SO expensive! there is no match for an acoustic set plus you can play them at gigs. i ended up buying an acoustic set and also these silencer pads to put on the drums to absorb noise. they work well but obviously still make some noise, though not much.
i found yamaha to be the best electric but you should just try different ones and buy the one you like the best.
