How to record drums at home with a camera?

its no professional studio, its just a place with drums. the problem is that my camera's mic can't support the loudness of the drums and the sound comes a bit like its blown up and like "shhr shrr" probabaly because the drums are too loud for the camera's mic. what can i do so that the drums arent too loud for the camera? perhaps put the camera in a cardboard box? or what? please tell me... and we dont have much cash to spend btw. thanks a lot guys!

If u are looking to record just the sound,,, i would recommend placing the set in a closed room and then put the camera just outside the door... this should eliminate most of the high frequency sounds produced by the drum kit. it still will not sound the greatest but unless u want to pay the cash and get ur set miced up then this will be the best you can do.
