Should I buy a second-hand drum kit?

Ive been playing all kinds off instruments and ive been taking drum lessons recently and now my cousins moved in with me and were thinking of splitting on buying a RM 1200 second hand drum kit.. I think its a pearl one, but not sure which its around 1 and a half years old and its a basic kit with one crash. Now should i spend my money on the drum kit or just buy a new one?

i was gonna do the same thing and buy a second hand drum kit with just a crash and then i looked at the prices to buy the rest of the cymbals and it wasnt worth it. Also if you are a beginner then you probably wont know whether it is a good price for the quality and condition of it...so my best bet is to stay on the safe side and put in the extra cash to buy a proper kit (especially if you and your cousin decide to give it up, youll get a way better price for it, if you sell it..because it sounds like you like to experiment with different instruments).
