Tama Starclassic Maple, Birch, or bubinga/Birch?

I don't know much about all the different types of woods, but i want to know which wood is better for heavy metal. I want my drums to be really loud and punchy.. I need drums that will cut through the mix of all the heavy detuned drop D guitars.

Maple generally has a warmer tone and more resonance and Birch has more attack and is usually slightly louder, not sure about Bubinga/Birch, but it's probably a combination of woods.

Personally I like Maple the best, and it's probably the best kind of wood to make drums out of. The sound, depending on how you tune would fit what your looking for pretty well. Punchy, warm, resonate, projecting, focused, clean. The Starclassic is really one of the best Maple sets on the market. I don't think you would be disappointed at all. I have a maple DW myself, and all I can say is that Maple is good wood.

I'd also recommend looking on Youtube at some demonstrations of the drums, there are tons of videos showing of the sound and look of the drums.
