How to break a double bass pedal? SERIOUS QUESTION!!!!!!!!!!?

Ok i bought a pretty nice Pearl Double bass pedal from guitar center about a year and a half ago. I dont really play drums much anymore so i wanted to get my moneysworth back from it. i paid for a 2 year warranty just in case. what are some common prblem that happen to pedals that would make guitar center take it back? my friend said just to break the chain. is that what i should do?
and the guy at guitar center that helped me pick out the pedal told me i should get the extended warranty so in 2 years i could get a better pedal by returning it, or if i dnt play much, just get my money back. so i got the idea from him

Use a sledgehammer on it. A common problem with double-bass pedals is their vulnerability to sledgehammers.
