What are the best brand of drumsticks for hard rock?

so, my best friend is a drummer. i don't want to ask him anything about drumming because i'm getting him customized drumsticks for christmas.
can you tell me what the best brand is for drumsticks if you play hard rock music? he's pretty amazing with music, but i have no idea what brands are good, and what brands suck.
please let me know!
price can go up to about 50 bucks. please let me know asap!

I'm a drummer, and I'm very particular about my sticks. There are only two brands I will use and a half dozen sizes. That being said, I will use pretty much any non-stick item of whackery (yes, that's the technical term) I'm given. Get him a pair of brushes (fan of metal wires with a plastic or wood handle) rutes (sometimes called multi-rods, bundle of bamboo or nylon, with or without a defined handle), jingle sticks (plastic sticks with jingles or shakers built in), or other such "specialty" stick. He'll be very particular about the sticks that he uses, but probably open to experimentation with these other kind of effect instruments. He won't use it as much as his regular sticks, instead they'll be a sort of special effect he can use every once in a while to mix it up a bit. Check these out, read the reviews, and look for something that sounds like it fits his genre and style.
