should I get the pearl sensitone elite steel or brass Snare Drum?

I want the pearl sensitone elite snare drum but cannot decide between steel or brass, I play hard rock and metallica, I like a good crack and and not much ring to it, what is best? also, should it be 5x14 or 6.5x14?

brass has a warmer, richer sound than the steel. steel is probably more versatile. both will cut well, and both can cut down the ring if tuned properly. its going to be mainly about personal preference. but for a hard rock situation, you probably want to go with the Steel Shell. i know lars uses bell brass, which is far different from brass. bell brass is much harder and therefore, brighter, louder, and with an exceptional crack to it. but those also cost over a grand usually
