How do I stop the wires resonating on my snare?

Whenever I play the toms my snare resonates. Its very irritating.
I realize that there is a natural resonance, but this resonance is hectic. I have but a ring on, but it doesn't help the resonance. There must be away to soften the resonance - it's really loud.

Assuming you have already tightened the snares correctly, there is very little you can do. Other instruments playing nearby will always make the snares resonate. That's why live bands put the drummer up on a riser, and/or behind lexan panels (which also keep the drummer from making the rest of the band deaf). But even then, those snares resonate somewhat. In a recording studio situation, they separate the drummer physically behind panels to keep this from happening.

As for it resonating "badly" when you hit the toms, it's hard to know how "bad" you mean. They shouldn't vibrate enough that you even notice it when you hit the toms, unless the snares are way too loose. Place the whole drumkit on a piece of carpet.
You can buy a remnant cheap at a carpet store.
That will isolate vibrations from one part of the kit to the others, and may help you.
