Can anyone tell me about the character of Elsa in the Sound of Music?

I have a callback audition on Saturday for the role of Elsa in the Sound of Music. I'm familiar with the character in the movie version, but I know that the musical version sees more of her, including several songs. Can anyone give me an idea of what her character is like in the stage musical performance? I've never seen it. I'm looking for particular character traits, mannerisms, accents, types of songs she sings, and anything else that may give me an edge over the other two people who were called back to audition.

Elsa Schrader (Soprano, up to high C, moves well, 30+)
A Baroness of taste and elegance, attractive, sophisticated, dignified and mature wealthy socialite somewhat of a snob and looks down upon Maria in the begining

I have seen several stage versions and have never heard her use an accent although she is german

She is interested in Georg but really the children has a subtle wicked stepmother flavor only adores children to delight Captain Von Trapp when he is paying attention, knows nothing of motherhood and is not really in her heart to try, Not one to get her hands dirty or lift her finger to do a thing except accept fine gifts, a bit of a gold digger

She does however in a few seens glance at Maria in a admiration ( wishing she were so endearing and has Maria'a pure & loving quality)
