Where can I get a metal file that I can use to file down the legs of a floor tom?

The legs of the floor tom for my drum kit are too big so i'm trying to figure out how I would go about making them fit, and people have told me to use a metal file to file it down but i don't know where i would get one. so if you can, please help me. i really want to play my drum kit with every thing in place.

If it is the height of the leg you could use a file, you can get one at a hardware store. A hack saw might work better. If the leg will not fit into the mounting bracket on the drum then you will need a "rat-tail" file and file the three brackets on the drum until the leg will fit. Or you could just go and buy the right size legs, they are fairly cheap and you wouldn't be "modifying" your floor tom hardware.
