9th grade linear systems word problem... help?

A drummer goes to a guitar store and buys drum sticks and brushes. The Wood Sticks that he buys are $10.50 a pair, and the brushes are $24 dollars a pair. He buys twice as many pairs of wood sticks as brushes, and ends up spending a total of $90. How many pairs of sticks and brushes did he buy?

sticks = s;
brushes = b

let see what we got here:

(1) s = 2b (He buys twice as many pairs of wood sticks as brushes)

(2) 10.5s + 24b = 90 (The money he spent to buy $10.5 stick and $24 brush)

let's sub (1) eq into (2) eq:

10.5 (2b) + 24b = 90

21b + 24b = 90

45b = 90

b = 2;

s = 2b = 2 x 2 = 4

so he bought 4 wood sticks and 2 brushes.
